Introduction

The School of Information Science and Engineering (SISE) is one of the key colleges of Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST). Since the establishment of the discipline of Industrial Enterprise Electrification in 1958, SISE has gone through 60 years. In 1995, the College of Information Science and Engineering was established. Right now, it has six primary departments including Department of Automation, Department of Electronic Information Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Microelectronics Engineering, Department of Electronic Science and Technology and Department of Electrical and Electronic Basic Courses. Moreover, CISE has a few professional comprehensive experimental centers including the Engineering Research Center of Metallurgical Automation and Measurement Technology (approved by the Ministry of Education), the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Intelligent Information Processing and Network Optimization, the Exemplary Teaching Center for Electrical Engineering and Electronics Technology (provincial level), the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Information Fusion, the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, etc.



Majors of the SISE


       Automation

The major aims to cultivate students with good humanistic quality, professional ethics and sense of social responsibility, master the necessary basic theory, basic knowledge and professional skills in the field of automation, have strong engineering practice ability and innovative spirit, have high quality application-oriented talents engaged in scientific research, technology development, engineering design, system integration, operation and maintenance management in automation and related fields, such as metallurgical automation system, process automation system, automatic instrument and detection, computer control system and so on.

Electronic Information Engineering

The major aims to cultivate students with professional ethics, innovation spirit, certain international vision, strong engineering practice ability and ability to solve complex engineering problems, who can engage in research, design, development and management of electronic information software and hardware systems in electronic information related fields such as electronic information, communication, iron and steel metallurgy and other industries.

Communication Engineering

The major aims to cultivate high-quality applied talents with all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education, solid foundation of both mathematics, physics, electronics and information, equipped with good abilities of analyzing, designing and solving problems in complicated electronics and information systems, who behave good innovative and pioneering spirit, social responsibility, professional ethics, international view, and are capable of conducting research, design, development, manufacture, operation, maintenance, management in the field of Electronics and Information Engineering or related ones, adapting to the career development and social demands in the future.

Electrical Engineering and Automation

The major trains undergraduate students to have the necessary basic theories, basic knowledge and professional skills in the field of electrical engineering and automation, have strong engineering practice ability and innovative spirit, and can be used in the fields of electrical engineering and automation such as power supply and distribution for metallurgical enterprises, power system, power electronics and power transmission, new energy power generation and control, intelligent electrical equipment and so on. This major also trains undergraduate students to be high quality applied talents engaged in scientific research, technological development, engineering design, production organization, coordination and management.

Robotics

The major aim to cultivate high-quality applied talent in robot industry, owns solid knowledge on mathematics, physics and robot, grasps technique in information, auto-control, computer software and hardware, and algorithm designation, master skill in designation, development and application of robot system, and is with highly practical ability and creative spirit, can be engaged in scientific research, technology development, engineering design, system integration, operation, maintenance and management in robot engineering fields such as robot core components, robot system, intelligent manufacturing and service and so on.

Electronic Science and Technology

The major aims to cultivate high-quality applied talents with the target of design integrated circuit and all sorts of electronic information systems, this program aims at training advanced talents who can grasp fundamental integrated circuit theories, methods and EDA tools, and have a certain international vision. These talents can meet the demands of scientific research, engineering design, technique development, project management for the integrated circuit and system and its related fields.

Disciplines of SISE

SISE is qualified to grant doctor degree in the discipline of Control Science and Engineering (rated as B-level in the fourth-round discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education and the relative ranking is 20~30%) and also has one post-doctoral research center. In addition, SISE is qualified to grant master degree in the discipline of Control Science and Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, and Electronic Engineering.

SISE has tremendous strength in the scientific research and has undertaken 42 national-level projects including the National Natural Science Foundation, the National “863” Plan and the National Major Instrument Special Project. Besides, it has undertaken 20 Natural Science Funds of Hubei Province, 45 Provincial and Ministerial Projects and a number of projects cooperated with enterprises. Among them, two projects have won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and 21 projects have won the Provincial and Ministerial-Level Science and Technology Advancement Awards. In recent years, more than 100 vertical projects have been approved, 238 papers have been indexed by three retrieval systems and more than 40 monographs and textbooks have been published.
